LIFTING EYE BOLTS, LIFTING EYE NUTS:
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE AND MINICERT
Under the Machinery Directive, every lifting accessory or each lot of lifting accessories must be accompanied by instructions supplying at least the following information:
-
Intended use
-
Limits of use
-
Instructions for assembly
-
Static test coefficient used
-
Declaration of Conformity stating that the parts meet the requirements of Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC
INSTRUCTIONS ACCORDING TO STANDARDS DIN 580:2018 AND DIN 582:2018
-
Screw the lifting eye-bolt/nuts tightly. The working load limits refer to lifting eye bolts and lifting eye nuts which have been screwed tightly to the object needing lifting. Tighten using levers or mechanical means, making sure the shank is not subject to excessive stress. Tauten the cables and/or the hooks before starting to lift.
-
In case of through holes a nut (0.8 x diameter), thoroughly screwed and tightened, should be used. If the screw’s threading is long enough, the additional use of a washer is also recommended.
-
The working load limit (WLL) specified in kilograms on the lifting eye bolts and lifting eye nuts refers to the straight pull (0°). The working load for a 45°-angle pull, for a 60°-angle pull and for the orthogonal 90°-angle pull is specified on the package label. For a multi-eye-bolt lift, align the rings by tightening correctly or by using of washers with a diameter at least equal to the lifting eye bolts and lifting eye nuts’ bearing surface.
-
The working load limits refer to a use temperature comprised between -20°C and +200°C (-4°F / +392°F).
-
For each new use lifting eye bolts and lifting eye nuts must be checked for signs of faults such as dents, cracks, sharp burrs, deformation, stripped or missing threading, rust or evident signs of incorrect storage.
-
Please comply with the safety regulations in force in your country relative to the usage of lifting equipment and/or accessories.
-
The application of particular colours (especially the colour red, used to identify high-strength fasteners) is to be avoided in order to exclude the possibility of error in the identification of the characteristics of the eye-bolt which is about to be used.
-
Lifting eye bolts and lifting eye nuts must not be used with the ring's side pull (see picture below).
